Time Required: 150 minutes
In The Lab, students will:

  • Construct the tallest free-standing rescue tower possible that supports the mass of an individual in need of rescue
  • Compare rescue tower designs to determine the level of success or failure of the solutions
  • Reflect on the team design process to determine what steps of the Design Thinking process were utilized during this design challenge
  • Extension: Analyze a variety of engineered products to determine the success or failure of the product and the steps of the Design Thinking process utilized by engineers in making their products
