Time Required: 140-145 minutes
In The Lab, students will:

  • Explore gravity in different scenarios.
  • Construct models that represent how gravity affects the behavior of objects in different scenarios.
  • Draw conclusions from lab activities by comparing the initial position of the object to the final position of the object.
  • Communicate understanding of gravity’s pull by using arrows to represent gravity in action.

Standards
5-PS2-1
Support an argument that the gravitational force exerted by Earth on objects is directed down. [Clarification Statement: β€œDown” is a local description of the direction that points toward the center of the spherical Earth.] [Assessment Boundary: Assessment does not include mathematical representation of gravitational force.]
